Guest Spot at ROYAL TATTOO, Denmark

Today I´m so stoked to announce my second guest spot for the year of 2013.

From Monday, April 22nd to Saturday, April 27th I will be working at the infamous Royal Tattoo in Helsingør, Denmark!

I still can hardly believe that I was invited to do a guest spot there by world-famous tattoo legend Henning Jørgensen and his crew.

This is the ultimate dream coming true in a tattooer´s career and I´m already excited to fly over and have a good time in Denmark!

If things go really well, I might also be working there on a regular basis within the next months - but I´ll keep you updated about this as soon as I know more.

...from the deepest Depths

Today I had the pleasure to welcome back the infamous Paul™, who´s already some kind of "veteran" here in my blog and those who check regularly know that I´ve done some of my favorite pieces so far on this guy...

This time we decided to go a little bit bigger and started a full sleeve project.
Paul came up with the idea of a kraken pulling a ship underwater - of course, I was excited from the first moment and couldn´t wait to start with it!
As a documentary junkie I pulled out some of my nicest reference books and started to get lost in the line-drawing...

What you can see in these pictures is the result of the first session - we completed all the linework so up next is filling this beast with colours - so stay tuned, dammit!

B-52

I just finished this really fun tattoo on Benny, who came up with the idea originally planned for his arm.
Due to his job position he then decided to put this across his back.
As he told me, he was really into war machinery (he´s a death metal drummer, so this should explain it all ;-) ) and especially likes the B-52 Stratofortress, so he decided to get it into his skin permanently...
I liked the idea of Death riding on a bomber, planting carpets of GP-bombs and bringing death from the sky...

The tattoo was finished within two sessions and it was actually his very first tattoo - respect to you, Benny!

All the linework and parts of the skeleton are fully healed in these pictures, I´ll try to get some healed shots of the whole design in a few weeks, stay tuned!

Guest spot IN BRUGES

I´m very happy to announce my first Guest Spot in 2013 at Mom´s Body Shop in Bruges aka Brugge aka Brügge, Belgium.

I´ll be working there from Tuesday, April 1st (no, it´s not a joke) until Saturday, 6th of April 2013.
Of course you can try to get a walk-in at the shop but best chances are if you get in touch with me or Dave and Liesbeth from Mom´s  Body Shop in advance to make sure to save yourself an appointment!

Notice, that I can only do one-session pieces that can be finished throughout one day during this week - so if you want bigger pieces from me, you must be willing to come over to Germany for follow-up sessions!

You can see some samples of my work on my blog or in my facebook page.
As you can find out, I´m not into plain blackwork, like tribal, maori or dot work stuff - for anything else feel free to get in touch:

Back from Brussels!

Last weekend, I was able to be part of the 3rd International Brussels Tattoo Convention.

I had a good time, it was a nice convention with a lot of reeeaaally good artists, I met some really nice people and made new friends - but this is supposed to be a tattoo blog, so I won´t bother you with too much text but show you some of the stuff I was able to do there instead ;-)

Enjoy!

On saturday afternoon, I was able to do this nice traditional piece on Dimi, who´s a tattoo apprentice in Mol (BEL) and saw the line drawing for this tattoo, I prepared for the convention.
We covered a small tattoo next to his ear with it and it was real fun to do!
Unfortunately, I only did some crappy iphone pics with the stencil lines still shining through, but he already promised me to send some healed pics soon, so stay tuned...
Thanks, Dimi! (...in de keuken ;-) )

Saturday evening, I got the chance to tattoo another tattooer, Dave from Mom´s Body Shop in Bruges (BEL) who was working right next to me at the convention.
He picked the snake head from my set of line drawings and I got a nice old school dagger on my shin bone the other day from him.
Thanks Dave and see you next year "In Bruges" ;-)

Daniel and his girlfriend came all the way from Germany and visited me on Sunday at the Convention.
I did this nice Pin Up/Shark design on his upper inner arm which was a lot of fun to do!
Thanks, Daniel!

a FUN week!

it´s those weeks before christmas were customers move around or cancel their appointments and you have to be flexible and spontaneous at work.

This week two people at once had to cancel their appointments with me so I found the time to do some watercolor flash paintings, which I rarely do due to lack of time...

Luckily, I have some really great customers and some of the designs I painted have been gone as soon as I posted them online and I was able to tattoo them just the other day!

First up was long-time client Jan who first came to me back in 2008 and got all his tattoos so far done by me.
He loves skulls (who doesn´t) so he picked up the skull I painted and I tattooed it on his inner biceps.
Unfortunately, I couldn´t get a decent photo so all I can offer you is a slightly distorted iPhone pic - but you get the idea!
Thanks, Jan!

Danke, Jan!

Next up was Gregor, a guy I first met some 13 or 14 years ago when we played together in a straight edge hardcore band for a couple of weeks;
We haven´t seen each other over more than 10 years before I ran into him at a friend´s wedding earlier this year.
Like me, he´s still straight edge so he decided to pick up the "Sink or Swim" shark design which was great great fun to do!
ThanxXx, Gregor!

ThanxXx, Gregor!

To round it up, I did another tattoo on Duc, who also got a decent amount of
skin tattooed by me during the past 2 years and came back for a chest piece.
And what can you do wrong with an eagle tattoo all over your chest?
We finished all the linework in the first session, shadings and colors up next, stay tuned!
Thanks, Duc!

Danke, Duc!

Dead by Dawn

These are the moments in a tattooer´s life that get you stoked for days:
a customer shows up and asks for a design you love for decades and you´re only waiting for someone to finally put is in his/hers skin.

This kind of design is the skull from the cover/poster of the 80ies Classic horror flick Dead by Dawn (Evil Dead 2) by Sam Raimi.

When I first saw the video tape cover I was immediately fascinated by the piercing glance that seems to follow you and this fascination hasn´t changed a bit until this day.

That´s why I´m super-excited to present the result of a very funny and pleasing session!
